Inspired Poem

Above the Shaded Earth

thrashing into the void
a skein of foliage
fluttered like torn sails

battering gust and squall, we
the youthless vagabond
bid our mothers farewell

we’ll cascade upon sea
to drink its brine
and dance with violet glacier

to the headlands, we’d be
a shrouded den
for the wild dweller’s ledge

soaring dunes, we’ll ease
where winter has no hold
and tides are swallowed brim

high above the ground
for the shaded earth means death
avoiding rest, we dreamt

as rusted sails, we are
nori for the salt-laden
a pillow for the auks

a ripple
for the immortal
stream
